Friday, March 31, is National Crayon Day which means it’s a day full of colors!

Crayons have been around for many years as a part of everyone’s childhood. Everyone loves using crayons because it adds color to a picture and gives it life. Even though we all have used crayons we might not know much about them, so here are some fun facts about crayons that might interest you.

  1. The first box of Crayola Crayons was sold for just a nickel.
  2. Before the use of machines, crayon labels were covered by hands.
  3. The original Crayon colors are: red, blue, yellow, green, violet, orange, black and brown.
  4. To-date, there are more than 100 colors for Crayola Crayons.
  5. Crayons are known to have one of the highest recognizable scents in the nation.
  6. By the time a kid turns 10 years old, they will have gone through about 720 crayons on average.
  7. The biggest crayon ever made is for display in Pennsylvania. It weighs 15,00 pounds and was made in the color blue.
