Are Your Kids Going Back-to-School with Braces?
If you answered yes to this question then continue reading this post. In this post, you’ll find information about how you can prepare your kids for going back to school with braces. Here is a list of tips for you:
The first and most important item your kids should include in their backpack is a braces care kit. Having this kit will help your kids keep their teeth clean after snack time or lunch, so that food won’t be stuck in their brackets all day until they reach home. In the kit, you’ll want to include; dental wax, lip balm, floss, toothbrush and toothpaste, and a pocket-size mirror.
Secondly, carrying water is important for your kids so they can stay hydrated throughout the day. You can purchase a reusable water bottle so that your kids can carry it with them to school.
When kids wear braces, they have to be careful about what kinds of foods they are eating and they need to be careful and avoid certain kinds of foods. This means when packing your kid’s lunches be sure to avoid packing foods that are sticky and hard because you wouldn’t want there brackets to break.
Lastly, another important item your kids might want to pack along in their backpack is a mouthguard. This is especially important if your kids are taking physical education classes or if they are active in sports. Wearing a mouthguard over the braces protects the braces and the chances of them getting hurt from the braces.
If you stick to this list, your kids should be just fine going back to school with braces. For further questions or any concerns please contact your Orthodontist so they may assist you.
