Holiday Survival Kit for People with Braces

The holiday time is upon with Thanksgiving being followed by Christmas. This is the time that many people like to travel during the holidays but it can be a little bit of a challenge for those who wear braces. If you or someone in your family wears braces and is worried about traveling then let us put your mind at ease with the ultimate survival kit list for holiday traveling while wearing braces. Here is a list of things that you’ll want to carry with you while you’re out traveling.

Travel size toothbrush and toothpaste – The great thing about carrying this is that not only does it fit in a handbag but for women, they can probably fit it in their purse too!

Orthodontic Wax – This is a lifesaver because in case you have a poking wire you can use the wax to protect the inside of your cheeks from the wire.

Compact Mirror – When you aren’t near a restroom but want to check if you’ve got food stuck in your brackets then having a compact mirror handy can allow you to check for any food that might have gotten stuck.

Pocket Tissue – Sometimes with braces, you might drool so having a tissue to wipe it off can be useful.

Floss – Floss is great for cleaning and getting rid of food particles that could get stuck between your teeth.

Travel Size Mouthwash – Having a small bottle of mouthwash is great for killing germs in your mouth. Plus if you don’t have your travel size toothbrush and toothpaste then rinsing with a mouthwash can be just as good as getting rid of unwanted food particles.

Lip Balm – Having lip balm is great for when you get dried, chapped lips. Using lip balm can help to moisturize your lips and keep them from getting dried up.

You can always ask your orthodontist what they would recommend you take with you while traveling. Based on your specific needs they might be able to give you a more specified list as to oral care hygiene items to take with you. Taking care of your teeth during the holidays is key to you enjoying the holidays without any worry. Keep smiling and enjoy the upcoming holidays!
