With all the holiday festivities comes drinking and eating so it&#8217;s important to keep your teeth clean as much as possible and to watch what you eat, especially if you&#8217;re someone who wears orthodontic appliances. Here are some helpful hints on how to care for your teeth during the holidays.<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>It is important to brush your teeth after every meal, or as often as possible as to prevent harming your teeth. If you&#8217;re at a party away from home, try and rinse your mouth with water.<\/li>\n<li>Avoid eating chewy and hard candies such as taffy and caramel especially if you wear an orthodontic appliance.<\/li>\n<li>Never crack nuts with your teeth, because you could damage or crack a tooth.<\/li>\n<li>At holiday parties, beverages from eggnog to hot chocolate are usually serve and contain sugar in them so it&#8217;s important that you drink water after or rinse your mouth with water.<\/li>\n<li>If you&#8217;re traveling during the holidays, be sure to pack your toothbrush, toothpaste and floss. If you wear orthodontic appliances be sure and take along a case so you can keep your appliance safe when you&#8217;re not wearing it. You may also want to carry pain relievers or gauze with you in case you have minor problems.<\/li>\n<li>Another important thing to remember is that during the holidays many offices are closed so it&#8217;s important to find out if and when your orthodontist and dentist is open. In case of an emergency you should have a backup orthodontist or dentist that you can go to if your doctor is closed for the holidays.<\/li>\n<li>Lastly, remember that water is your best friend during the holidays. Not only does it help to keep your teeth clean but it&#8217;s the healthiest beverage for you.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>Hopefully these tips will help you in caring for your teeth during all your holiday festivities.
