There are a few reasons as to why your dentist might want to extract your tooth.<\/span><\/p>\n Why do you need to get a tooth extraction?<\/b><\/p>\n The most common reason that a tooth might need to be extracted is due to the fact that the tooth might be damaged from either tooth decay or a severely injured tooth. There are other reasons which your dentist may need to extract a tooth.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n Tooth Crowding<\/span><\/i> – If your teeth need to be aligned, then sometimes a tooth may need to get pulled out. Also, if your tooth isn\u2019t able to come through of your gum due to no room in your mouth then it might call for another reason in which you\u2019ll need to have your tooth removed.<\/span><\/p>\n Infection<\/span><\/i> – Having a decaying tooth or some type of damage to a tooth that reaches to the center of your tooth (the part that contains the blood vessels and nerves) then you might need to get a tooth extracted. When the tooth is damaged, sometimes bacteria in the mouth can reach the center of your tooth which can then lead to an infection. When this happens, then your dentist might try and clean up the area using root canal therapy. If the infection is more complex and the root canal therapy and\/or antibiotics doesn\u2019t help then the tooth may need to extract so that the infection doesn\u2019t spread.<\/span><\/p>\n Periodontal Disease (Gum Disease)<\/em> – If the tissue and the bones around the tooth get infected it can loosen that tissue that was surrounding the tooth, therefore, leading to your tooth getting loose and having to be extracted.<\/p>\n These are just some of the reasons why you might need a tooth extraction. Your dentist or oral surgeon will be able to tell you if there are other reasons as to why your tooth may need to be extracted.
