Trick or Treat – Nutrition Tips
It’s finally time to bring out the candy and get dressed up for Halloween! Are you looking for a way for you and your family to be healthy this Halloween? Look no further because below is a list of some health tips you and your family can follow to ensure a healthy and fun Halloween!
Watch for Calories – When buying and collecting candy, it’s best to try and choose candy that is less than 100 calories. Some healthy candy choices you can choose from are: Twizzlers, Peanuts M&M’s, Tootsie Rolls, 3 Musketeers, Tootsie Pop, Payday, Almond Joy, Kit Kat and Jolly Ranchers are just some to name.
Eat A Snack – Prior to going out for trick or treating, try to have a decent sized, healthy snack or meal so that way you and your family will feel full. Just by eating before you go out will make you less likely to want to polish off your candy right away.
Walking – The great thing about Halloween is that you and your family can have an active night out just by trick or treating. Just by walking from house to house around your neighborhood, you and your family will have done some physical exercise.
Portion Control – After you’ve gone trick or treating with the family it’s best that you hide the candy and limit you and your family to a couple pieces of candy each day.
Bargain – If you’re trying to have your children eat less candy, then you can try bargaining with them. You can have them trade in their candy for money, or a toy, or anything else you know they might want. This is a great way for kids to have less sugar and be healthy.
Hopefully these trick or treating tips are useful for you and your family. Hope everyone has a safe and healthy Halloween!
