Invisalign vs. Braces
Do you know the difference between traditional wire braces and Invisalign clear aligners?
The biggest difference between traditional braces and Invisalign aligners is that braces are comprised of arch wires and brackets, whereas Invisalign is a clear plastic aligner. Traditional braces are normally used for complex cases because with the arch wire attached to the brackets it applies more pressure which helps to reposition the teeth.
Traditional braces are utilized for teeth corrections that have been affected by crowding, problems with alignment, and spacing between teeth. With braces, patients will have brackets attached to their teeth and cannot be removed until the end of your treatment.
Invisalign clear aligners are plastic appliances that are generated by a computer. The great thing about Invisalign is that since it’s a clear aligner it’s not visible like braces are. Another great thing about Invisalign is that it is removable and easily slides snugly over your teeth thanks to the custom-fit. The only thing you have to worry about is making sure that you remove your aligners before drinking and eating food so that you don’t stain or crack your aligners.
Based on the condition of your teeth, your doctor will be able to determine which appliance is suitable for you whether it be Traditional Braces or Invisalign.
